Missouri Bull Shoals Lake Association
Attractions - Branson, MO
After you've settled in, fished, played in the sun, and just generally relaxed, you just might enjoy a day in Branson, Missouri, the new country music capital of the Midwest. With nearly 30 different theaters there is bound to be one of your favorite personalities "on stage" while you are in the area. Many have matinee performances so you can see two shows in one day if you plan it right. Advance tickets are recommended.
Branson isn't just music. There are numerous craft shops and craft malls, a factory outlet mall, White Water (a water park), Silver Dollar City (a theme park), the Shepherd Of The Hills Homestead an outdoor pageant, a tower and helicopter rides from which to view the Ozark countryside, bumper cars/boats, lake cruises, mini golf, a winery and more . . . a LOT more.
Yes, there is traffic but if there weren't a lot of fun things to do, there wouldn't be any traffic!
The drive to Branson is particularly pretty spring and fall. Much of it is through National Forest land. It will be about 50 miles (plus or minus) from most of the Bull Shoals Lake area resorts, but do allow an hour and a half to drive it. U.S. Highway 160 West is particularly scenic (translate that to very crooked). Some of the vistas are breathtaking. You might want to drive to Branson even if you don't plan to take in a show.
